Bio
Born in Brazil, Keller Passos hails from a long line of respected gemstone dealers. Her father has been in the business for over 40 years, and was one of the first Brazilians to ever trade gemstones internationally. Drawn to the stones at a young age, she would sneak peeks at the irresistible piles of gemstones around the house, and has early memories of traveling to the “minas” (mines) with her father where he and his “garimpeiros” (miners) would be mining in the middle of the jungle or inside of a hot deep hole somewhere. These experiences fostered Keller’s appreciation and fascination with the process of a stone, changing from a piece of rough to a perfectly cut stone and finally into a remarkable design.
Though age and gender posed obstacles to breaking into the industry in her home country, Keller boldly relocated to the States in the mid-90’s, and began working her way up in the trade. While working in a Los Angeles Lapidary (company where gemstones are cut, polished and repaired), she became known for having a “great eye” for gems. Realizing her true passion lied in selling gemstones, Keller also discovered a love for designing, mixing and matching diamonds with different colors of gemstones. She opened her own company a few years ago and has successfully serviced retail stores, manufacturers and designers in California and prime vacation cities across the country. Soon she was traveling the world, working trade shows for gemstones and finished jewelry, including the famous JCK Las Vegas show, the Hong Kong show and one of the best known trade shows in the world - The Tucson, Arizona Show.
Though continuing to trade gemstones between the United States, South America and Asia, Keller has recently decided to focus on working with the public in a much more personal way.
Keller married Roberto, her wonderful husband, and biggest fan, in 1997.
They currently reside in the Los Angeles area.
